The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Debra Ray as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in social work. Overcoming a challenging childhood inspired Debra Ray to be a Social Worker. She is devoted to her career and has been the Assistant Director of the Family Services Department at Seminole Tribe of Florida for the past 11 years. She works with mental health, child welfare, guardianship and youth home programs. She is also a Certified Anger Management-Specialist.
“My key responsibilities are to work with and support our administrative team to effectively serve and provide strong, positive mental health, family dynamic support, child welfare services and prevention activities to the community,” she said. “We partner with families to collectively strengthen their family’s spiritual, emotional and physical well-being.”
Grateful for her personal experiences and previous interactions with individuals who helped her and her single mother, Ms. Ray now welcomes has the opportunities to give back to families. She is rewarded with knowing she has played a small part in making a family feel less stressed and more positive. She would like to continue to increase her therapeutic and administrative knowledge base in order to support the people she works with and serves.
