National Association of Professional Women Inducts Toni-Ann Sforza, Senior VP and Director of Human Resources at Amalgamated Bank, Into its VIP Woman of the Year

Ms. Sforza’s interest in human resources dates back to when she was 14 years old, working as a summer intern at a law firm specializing in labor and employment. Throughout college, she worked in human resources, honing in on the financial services industry. Ms. Sforza joined Amalgamated Bank from Hudson Valley Bank. She is currently Senior Vice President and Director of Human Resources, reporting to Keith Mestrich, President and CEO.
Ms. Sforza is responsible for the Human Resources, Corporate Security and General Services teams. She oversees key functions, including benefit administration, payroll, compensation, recruitment, employee engagement, employee and labor relations, performance management and development.
At Amalgamated Bank, the largest majority union-owned bank in America, half of the workforce is represented by two unions. As such, managing employee relations also entails managing collective bargaining agreements between the bank and the unions. Amalgamated Bank has approximately 400 employees located in New York City, New Jersey, California and Washington, DC.
