The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Angela L. Dence as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters.
“I'm pleased to recognize Angela with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to women.”
Ms. Dence is responsible for managing all the day-to-day income and expense ledgers of Bankers Healthcare Group's (BHG) accounting department. "My expertise is in accounting, preparing and analyzing periodic reports, preparation and coordination of annual audit," she said. She works directly with the CAO to establish and maintain effective internal controls to support BHG's financial infrastructure while ensuring conformity with GAAP accounting principles.
"I have worn many hats within the accounting and finance area at BHG," said Ms. Dence. She has acted as the project lead in the implementation of a new accounting system, human resource management system and an automated expense management solution. Her latest endeavors include implementing a budget and forecasting software along with rolling out a company-wide budget. She is also a key member of an internal team that is building a loan management system.
Ms. Dence's career in banking began in 2001 as a teller with Lyons National Bank. She was promoted to head teller until her acceptance of an offer from Solvay Bank in its bookkeeping / operations department. In 2006, she was offered an entry level position as junior accountant for Bankers Healthcare Group where she received a promotion to assistant controller and finally her current role, controller. Ms. Dence has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Columbia College and is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Accountancy program at Southern New Hampshire University.
