National Association of Professional Women Inducts Dannete Wilkerson, VP/CEO of Thompson Wealth Management/GymRatzLA , Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) May 31, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Dannete Wilkerson as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Dannete into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Dannete Wilkerson was inspired by her mother to pursue a career in nance. “My mother was a civil servant and also a real estate professional,” said Ms. Wilkerson. “She encouraged me to not only become a homeowner but to learn the necessary tools needed to help people build a financial legacy.” George B. Thompson, author of Millionaires in Training, became another of Ms. Wilkerson’s mentors.
Having first worked with Mr. Thompson at the Los Angeles Urban League, Ms. Wilkerson served as the organization’s Vice President during his time as President. “I again served as his Financial Secretary under his tenure as Treasurer of the National Urban League of Young Professionals,” she recalled. Ms. Wilkerson, who is a Certified Transformation Life Coach with a focus in business and finance, was eventually hired as Marketing Director at his firm, Thompson Wealth Management (TWM), a Christian-based company. For the past five years, she has held the role of Vice President at TWM.
Using her skills in organizational planning, logistics and management, Ms. Wilkerson’s main focus is increasing efficiency by decreasing bad business habits. “This is passed onto our clients through our core financial planning model to help them build wealth through a holistic system of budgeting, debt elimination and periodic investments into the markets to include stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real estate,” she said. Although it can be challenging to stay abreast of industry rulings, Ms. Wilkerson admits it is rewarding to help clients manage their debt, become homeowners and prepare for their future.
Recently, Ms. Wilkerson, who is attending Seminary school and studying Biblical Counseling, has taken on another important role: CEO of GymRatzLA, a youth fitness program in Los Angeles for girls aged 4 to 11 that provides training in beginner’s gymnastics and dance. “Our future goal is to launch a nonprofit entity that provides before- and after -school transportation to our site where they will be provided with healthy breakfasts and after-school snacks, education on healthy eating and a holistic fitness plan for a lifestyle that will involve the entire family,” said Ms. Wilkerson, who is a gymnast coach and was a former youth gymnast. “Our main objective is to provide inner-city youth with a low or no-cost fitness program in sports they are not typically exposed to due to cost and access.”
