National Association of Professional Women Inducts Karen Hager, Controller at S.I. Goldman Company, Inc., into Its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) May 26, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Karen Hager as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to present Karen with this honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her success in the information technology field is sure to inspire young girls and women to choose this career path.”
Ms. Hager’s successful career in finance and information technology began nearly 30 years ago. “I lucked upon an ad for a starter position at S.I. Goldman Company, Inc., a mechanical contracting company that was just starting to move to a computerized accounting system,” says Ms. Hager.
As fate would have it, she got the job and garnered greater responsibilities soon after her start date, applying her expertise and perfecting her skills along the way. Four years later, she assumed the role of IT Manager with expanded accounting duties. In February 2000, she was promoted to the role of Controller.
In addition to supervising two accounting staff members, Ms. Hager prepares and submits financial reports with an all-encompassing knowledge of finance and construction accounting. As IT Manager, she effectively troubleshoots computer system issues and maintains all computer systems, Windows network and software licensing for the company.
Ms. Hager obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Phoenix in 2012. She plans to obtain her Certified Managerial Accountant credentials to be an even greater asset to S.I. Goldman Company, Inc. “Completing my Bachelor’s degree after being out of school for 30 years has taught me that I am still able to think big and achieve whatever I put my mind to,” she said.
