National Association of Professional Women Inducts Anna Ratka, Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Chicago State University, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 18, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Anna Ratka as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare and education. Anna Ratka brings over 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy neurology, as well as higher education. Her teaching expertise is in pharmacology, pain pharmacotherapy and pain management, basic pharmacokinetics and compounding of sterile preparations. She is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chicago State University College of Pharmacy (CSU COP).
Dr. Ratka has built a strong foundation for herself through hard work and continued education. In 1981, she graduated with an M.S. in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1985 from Poznan University Medical Sciences, Poland. She later obtained a Pharm.D. She completed two Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Neuropharmacology and Neuroendocrinology.
In 2006, Dr. Ratka became founding Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center. In 2013, she became Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at CSU COP. She is a Certified Pain Educator and a Board-Certified Pharmacist. Her research expertise is in neuroscience / neuropharmacology with special emphasis on pain.
Dr. Ratka serves as a scientific reviewer and editorial board member on several journals. She is currently a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy where she has held leadership positions at the Global Pharmacy Education Special Interest Group, American Pharmacists Association, American Pain Society and American Society of Pain Educators. Dr. Ratka also serves as an on-site team evaluator for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
