National Association of Professional Women Announces Dr. Lanis L. Hicks, Professor / Associate Chair at the University of Missouri, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- NAPW honors Lanis L. Hicks, Ph.D., Professor and Associate Chair at the http://www.hmi.missouri.edu/, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Dr. Hicks is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in Health Administration. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
Health economics, health administration and health informatics are Dr. Lanis Hicks’ areas of expertise. Her research interests include rural health, workforce requirements, electronic health record adoption and meaningful use; and economic evaluations. A component of this research has been the development of general indicators of physician requirements and, specifically, detailed analysis of the changing specialty and geographic distribution of physicians. She is valued for her exemplary research work on evaluating the cost effectiveness of technologies in the delivery of healthcare, including telehealth; development of general indicators of physician requirements and the changing specialty and geographic distribution of physicians; identification and evaluation measures of quality in nursing homes and the relationship between cost and quality, adoption, implementation; and meaningful use of EHRs.
Dr. Hicks received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri and is currently involved with SEA, AEA, HIMSS and the NRHA. Shes is the PI and Director of the Missouri Health Information Technology Assistance Center (MO HIT AC). In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Hicks was the recipient of the 1999 National Rural Health Association's Distinguished Researcher award and the 2014 Gold Chalk Award from the University of Missouri.
