National Association of Professional Women Announces V. Renee Goodwin, Director of Bands, Grand Prairie High School, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- NAPW honors V. Renee Goodwin as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Goodwin is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in music education. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
Ms. Goodwin, who has a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington, has been sharing her love of music with children for more than 20 years. She began her teaching career at a small private school, eventually moving on to the Mansfield Independent School District. There, Ms. Goodwin honed her skills as a music educator, holding a number of teaching positions at the middle and high schools. Under her expert leadership, the band at Howard Middle School won many accolades including reaching the Area level of the State Honor Band Competition in 2006.
As Director of Bands at Grand Prairie High School, Ms. Goodwin continues to raise the bar for her students as she revamps and builds upon the band program. Her goal is to eventually grow the marching band to over 100 members. Ms. Goodwin’s commitment to her students’ music education is evident in the many accomplishments they have achieved.
“Seventeen out of 20 of our band members qualified for the All State HS Band and for the first time in the school's history, we had one of our All State Band students recorded while performing with other band members from across the state at the Texas State Convention,” says Ms. Goodwin proudly.
Awards & Accomplishments: Currently involved with Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association;former principal horn in Mansfield Wind Symphony and served as Associate Director in 2007 and Musical Director in 2010
