NAPW Announces Juanita N. Reyher-Colon, General Manager at Kawela Plantation Homeowners' Association, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- The National Association of Professional Women honors Juanita N. Reyher-Colon, General Manager at Kawela Plantation Homeowners' Association, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Mrs. Reyher-Colon is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in management. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and more than 300 Local Chapters.
Kawela Plantation Homeowner’s Association is a unique community established with the help of Hawaii’s Senator Wadsworth Yee, whose dream was to create a modern day Ahupua'a, the traditional style of land division used in old Hawaii.
“I am responsible for managing the homeowner’s association, which consists of 210 families, each with their own two-acre agriculture lot,” says Mrs. Reyher-Colon. Within Kawela there is also a three-and-one-half acre ocean park to launch resident’s boats for fishing, and approximately 5,500 acres of common land for agricultural use and game hunting in the mountains. Water is provided by a public water system owned by the homeowners of Kawela.
Mrs. Reyher-Colon is in charge of operations, consulting, configuration and management for the association. “Over the past seven years, I have facilitated better public water systems on the island,” she says. Under her expert management, the community succeeded in hitting its goal of becoming one of the best small water system in Hawaii. Mrs. Reyher-Colon is also an active member of Women in Networking, American Water Works Association (AWWA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA), Molokai Land Trust and Molokai Fire Task Force.
