National Association of Professional Women Announces Sholeh K. Kia, General Manager at Hamilton Crowne Plaza, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- NAPW honors Sholeh K. Kia as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Kia is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in hotel and restaurant management. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“After graduating from college with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Paris-Sorbonne University, I moved from France to the US,” says Ms. Kia. “I decided I would go after the second thing I liked most after schooling, the art of people and service.”
As the General Manager of the Hamilton Crowne Plaza, a luxury hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., Ms. Kia’s responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel. She works closely with all departments, making recommendations when it comes to budgeting and marketing and sees to it that the hotel staff constantly meets the needs of each and every guest.
Ms. Kia’s more than 20 years of industry experience has earned her the reputation of being a leader in the field. She possesses expansive knowledge of hotel management, exceptional leadership and mentorship skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff, colleagues and the executive committee. Although she admits the service business can be sometimes challenging, Ms. Kia always focuses on the positive. She is active in the company's mentoring program and enjoys guiding less experienced coworkers. “The most rewarding aspects of my career are the people I get to serve and mentor, and seeing our success and achievements as a team. What a great, fulfilling sensation of accomplishment,” she says.
