National Association of Professional Women Announces Glynis Deskins, IT Specialist, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

“I have been very successful in the area of building goal-oriented, high performance teams that achieve remarkable results,” says Glynis Deskins, an IT Specialist with more than 22 years of experience. “I got into the computer science field during the 1980s because of my fascination with technology.
Throughout her IT career, Ms. Deskins has honed her skills in application development, customer relationship management, technical trouble shooting, strategic planning, cross functional team leadership and project life cycle management. She is a highly effective communicator whose expansive industry knowledge and expert leadership abilities have helped her achieve success in the field. Ms. Deskins seamlessly handles the many demands of IT, such as aggressive deadlines, limited resources and demanding clients. She relishes the rewards of implementing a project successfully via teamwork and exceeding customers’ expectations.
For the past five years, Ms. Deskins has been the sole caregiver to both of her parents. From assisting with their daily living tasks to handling important financial decisions, Ms. Deskins patiently worked with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure her parents were safe and happy. This experience has fueled Ms. Deskins’ passion for continuing to assist seniors in any way she can. She currently volunteers her time at two local hospitals.
