National Association of Professional Women Inducts Margaret Anderson, M.S., JD, Patent Counsel at Apple, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) March 01, 2016 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Margaret Anderson as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in intellectual property. Margaret Anderson is a highly experienced Intellectual Property Attorney, with an extensive background in portfolio management, domestic and foreign patent prosecution and copyright protection. She also utilizes her degree in Electrical Engineering and has worked for Apple, Microsoft, Dell, Motorola and Intellectual Ventures, Inc., alongside the likes of Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
With a career beginning in Austin, TX, as a Senior Associate for Skjerven Morrill, Ms. Anderson has always focused on companies that distributed computer software and electronics. “I worked with the development of intellectual property portfolios, which included patent preparation and prosecution of software and semiconductor processor design applications,” she said.
In her current role at Apple, Ms. Anderson develops patent strategy for defensive and proactive acquisitions, and develops claim charts using her technical skills in electrical engineering. “I collaborate with patent brokers, providing feedback for proposed deals including patent review and contract negotiation,” she said. “My technical knowledge includes a through understanding of LTE and wireless standards.”
Ms. Anderson published a paper titled Patent Prosecution in an Age of Open Source in 2007. Her interest in writing law-related articles dates back to her time in law school, where she was Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. Outside of her work, Ms. Anderson is a judge for National United America Pageants, which supports women in community service in America.
