National Association of Professional Women Inducts Catherine Barnes, Office Manager at Harry D. Barnes, Esq., Into Its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 17, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Catherine Barnes as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in office management and bookkeeping. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting 850,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“It gives me great pleasure to present Catherine with this honor for the important work she is doing,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Together with her husband, she has created a valuable business enterprise for her community.”
Catherine Barnes did not begin her career with the intent to manage a law practice. She graduated from Cecil College in North East, MD, as a Registered Nurse and last worked at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Upon the arrival of her children, she looked for an alternative career that could potentially offer flexible hours.
“I shifted full time into my husband’s busy law practice,” Ms. Barnes said. “This allowed me more time to raise my children while being able to computerize his office and work on his personal injury cases.” Ms. Barnes also works on the office bookkeeping, and says she “has been involved in all aspects of the law office.”
Harry Barnes Law is based in Elkton, MD, and has served Cecil County since 1974. Mr. Barnes focuses his practice on family law, personal injury cases and criminal law, according to the practice’s website.
In addition to her work at her husband’s successful law practice, Ms. Barnes continued her education at Towson University in Towson, MD, where she is working on the last course to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She also owns real estate and manages her properties as a landlord. She has a lifelong interest in alternative medicine and organic gardening, and supports people in poverty through Unbound.org.
Awards & Accomplishments: Bachelor of Science Candidate, Towson University, Economics; Registered Nurse
