National Association of Professional Women Announces Jan M. Petersen, CEO / Owner of Mid County Liquors in Black Hawk, CO, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 11, 2014 -- NAPW honors Jan M. Petersen as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Petersen is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. After working in Colorado’s gaming industry for more than 17 years, Ms. Petersen decided it was time for a career change. She took a leap of faith and determined Black Hawk in Gilpin County, Colorado would be the perfect place to rent and open a liquor store. She named it Mid County Liquors. The store eventually became so successful that Ms. Petersen was able to purchase a building and expand her business.
“I’m a communicator and a real people person,” says Ms. Petersen, whose friendly and engaging personality attracts customers from all over the county. Black Hawk is a close knit community in rural Colorado where neighbors know and support one another. Over the years, Mid County Liquors has become part of the landscape in a town that takes pride in its colorful history as one of the major mining towns of the 19th century. With the advent of casino gambling, Black Hawk has also realized a significant increase in revenue.
The secret to Mid County Liquors has been its mission to provide a superior line of products to its patrons and explore new brands. “We carry a variety of spirits, wine and beer and specialize in customer service,” says Ms. Petersen, who enjoys running the day-to-day operations of the business. She is currently a member of the Colorado Licensed Beverage Association and recently went through the rezoning process to create her own commercial property in order to further expand the business
