“I'm pleased to recognize Diane with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”

“I create eco-friendly goodies for your home and wardrobe,” says Diane Anderson. She has been crowned 'The Scrubbie Queen' because of the success of her best-selling item, the ever-popular 'scrubbie' found in kitchens everywhere. All of Ms. Anderson’s creations are functional as well as colorful. A born environmentalist, Ms. Anderson makes use of items most people simply throw away.

After discovering the idea of using plastic grocery bags as yarn, Ms. Anderson began testing out the idea by making a plastic bag purse—and the idea took off. Much preparation goes into each item before she can begin crocheting. The bags need to be cut and then looped together to create a ball of what she calls "plarn." The largest item Ms. Anderson makes is a beach bag that takes about eight hours and 100 grocery bags to complete. Word of Ms. Anderson’s artistic and recycling ability has made her shop a popular drop-off for the eco-conscious shopper.

Ms. Anderson, a lifelong crafter, can see the potential inherent in the simplest of things. Using her ingenuity and craftsmanship she can turn an ordinary plastic bag into a fashion statement. She makes colorful totes, can cozies, aprons, dish towels, hot pads and attractive purses for purchase.

NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, unique tools and progressive benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
