NAPW Inducts Martha McNeill, Director Medical Oncology Palliative Services at Multicare Health System Good Samaritan, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 21, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Martha McNeill as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in nursing. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
"I'm pleased to present Martha with this important honor," said NAPW President Star Jones. "Her knowledge and experience in nursing are valuable assets to her patients and community."
Now near retirement, Ms. McNeill started her nursing career in 1971 and has been in management for more than 30 years. She made the decision to enter the field of nursing after being a patient herself. “I realized I was drawn to what the nurses were doing,” she said.
Since 2008, Ms. McNeill has held the role of Director Medical & Oncology Care Services at Good Samaritan. Using her skills as a leader and mentor, she expertly supervises a staff of more than 200 professionals, including department leaders, and ensures that patient and staff safety is always a top priority. Ms. McNeill oversees the day-to-day operations of the department including managing the budget.
“I enjoy watching staff grow and recognize what they can achieve at the bedside and away from the bedside in leadership,” said Ms. McNeill. “I enjoy teaching other leaders about counseling and budgeting and how to work in a political environment.” Although she faces the recent challenges of an ever-changing healthcare environment, Ms. McNeill is rewarded when she sees her staff grow and patients feeling grateful for the excellent care they receive.
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, unique tools and progressive benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
