NAPW Inducts Veronica Pickens, Senior Director of Compliance and Delegation, Inovalon, Inc., Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 22, 2016 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Veronica Pickens as a 2016-2017 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Veronica into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Realizing healthcare was where she wanted to focus her career, Veronica Pickens transitioned into the industry in 2009, concentrating on the area of compliance. Knowing she makes a difference in the lives of patients through her work, Ms. Pickens is passionate about what she does. “I am proud that my efforts yield best-in-class results for my organization, making us stand out as a leader in the compliance space.”
As Senior Director of Compliance and Delegation at Inovalon, Inc., Ms. Pickens effectively leads and manages high-performing audit and compliance teams and creates and implements initiatives that maximize customer experience, while minimizing organizational risk. Prior to her current role, Ms. Pickens was the company’s Director of Delegation Oversight and Auditing for two years.
Ms. Pickens’ key responsibilities entail serving as the strategic subject matter expert for the organization’s Vendor Oversight Program. This is the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services compliance-based program that works to ensure Inovalon’s vendors meet all compliance requirements. Her team oversees the initial due diligence processes and ongoing management of vendors. She also manages the day-to-day compliance-related processes, which include client audits, attestations and other regulatory responses required.
“Risk is always minimized by conducting the appropriate due diligence processes and aligning our practices and processes with our established policies and procedures,” said Ms. Pickens. “I have been both tactical and strategic in my approach, which has given me the ability to build successful startup operations at every organization where I have been employed.”
Rewarded throughout her career by her ability to positively impact not only the lives of patients, but the careers of her staff and others through mentoring, Ms. Pickens is particularly proud of her selection as a 2016 Rising Star for the Healthcare Business Women’s Association and will receive her award at the HBA Women of the Year event held in May 2016 and for the successful building of the Inbound Sales and Service Center at Chevy Chase Bank.
“I plan to continue to grow as a compliance professional,” Ms. Pickens said. “I will obtain my HealthCare Compliance Certification in August and will continue developing so that I can become a Chief Compliance Officer within the next three-five years.”
