NAPW Inducts Selma Tansey, Executive Director of Washington Communities Human Services, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 02, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Selma Tansey as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in mental health. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
"I'm pleased to present Selma with this important honor," said NAPW President Star Jones. "Her knowledge and experience in mental health are valuable assets to her clients and community."
Ms. Tansey has spent nearly four decades in her role as Executive Director at Washington Communities Human Services, a local, mental health center that serves the residents of Washington, PA. Focusing on providing those adults and children in the community who are in need of treatment, therapy or medication, Ms. Tansey and her staff of dedicated professionals work together to get people the help they need.
“I am responsible for the day-to-day provision of outpatient mental health services to members of our community and for the livelihood of 60 employees,” she said.
An exceptional leader, Ms. Tansey is also a team player. She knows the importance of working together to meet challenges and obstacles and achieve success. “I learned to cooperate with others, to accept responsibility, and how good it feels when the result is a win,” she said. “I listen to the ideas, opinions, perspectives and suggestions of others, however, the final accountability rests with me and I accept that whether the outcomes are good or bad.”
Keeping current with the ever-changing human services industry can be challenging but Ms. Tansey is more committed than ever to ensuring the needs are met of those who need it most in the community; she has no immediate plans to retire. “I will work as long as my health and interest permit me to do so. When either or both no longer allow me to work, I will retire to my log house across from a lake, take care of my cat and 1/2 acre and enjoy the company of family and friends,” she said.
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive networking forum to successful professional women where they can aspire, connect and achieve.
