Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- NAPW honors Carolyn Neufeld as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Neufeld is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 local chapters.
“I wanted to be a teacher. I was going for my B.A., but it was not a good time for teachers, so I looked for other options,” recalls Ms. Neufeld, who eventually changed her major and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy.
As a Recreation Therapist, Ms. Neufeld works with male prisoners with mental health issues. “I use indirect therapy, cognitive therapy and play therapy. I work with 29 inmate patients, some are suicidal, psychotic,” she says. “I only work with men. They don’t see me as a threat. I’m not a police officer.”
Currently pursuing her Master's in Recreation Therapy, Ms. Neufeld is the Owner of a health and wellness company as well as E-Scential Aromatherapy. She is an Independent Consultant with Arbonne International, a company that provides pure, balanced and safe products. A breast cancer and heart attack survivor, Ms. Neufeld is an advocate for the health and well-being of seniors and women. She shares information with her clients about the health benefits of Arbonne products, specifically its shakes. CPR certified, she is also a fitness specialist for seniors and women. “I teach classes at community centers and will go to people’s homes,” says Ms. Neufeld. “I also lead seminars about the importance of downsizing before illness strikes and the many benefits of essential oils for aromatherapy."
