National Association of Professional Women Inducts Ellen Shanahan, Professor of Music and Dept. Chair of Fine & Performing Arts, into its 2015-16 Woman of the Year Circle

Shanahan, Professor of Music and Department, Chair, Fine & Performing Arts, at Berkshire Community College, as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in music education. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasts more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

Ellen Shanahan received her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Leadership for Higher Education in 2013, and also has Bachelor and Master degrees in Music. She is involved with the College Music Society, where she recently presented at the 2014 National Conference. Dr. Shanahan has also been a presenter at the League for Innovation in Community Colleges Innovations National Conference in 2014.
Dr. Shanahan’s skills and areas of expertise include music (choral, piano, organ and music history), online teaching and learning, higher education leadership, curriculum development, faculty development, negotiating, facilitating and mentoring. In addition, she is adept at adjunct faculty research, musical theatre and the direction and production of musical theatre productions.
