“I’m pleased to recognize Valerie with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”
Valerie Arroyo is a motivated and selfless woman who continually provides her customers the positive and productive tools they need to become empowered individuals. As Director at One Love Community Center, she invests her time and heart into finding a successful route for the people around her through proper training / services. The center offers mentoring, tutoring, clothing, adult literacy programs, academic enrichment and events all year round. Services are offered to individuals in the North Carolina area, but she hopes to expand services to empower as many individuals as possible to make a better world.
Ms. Arroyo was raised in a South Bronx neighborhood of New York City by a single mother. She was guided by a local mentor who gave guidance to her and her brothers. Later in life, with six children of her own and a single parent, she always remembered the fulfillment he gave children. Ms. Arroyo gives back to her community by filling in the gap with One Love Community Center.
“There is always a way I can do my part in giving back to my community. It does not only have to help the youth, but it can and will empower everyone who wants to take the opportunity to improve their current situation for the better,” she said. At One Love, Ms. Arroyo’s responsibilities include ensuring matters are handled legally, ethically and professionally. Her main priority is to make sure everyone who works with / or for her stands by the center’s mission and vision statement and remembers that community and customers always come first. She hopes to work with local government officials to provide better opportunity for all citizens. Eventually, she would like to provide her services and programs to as many states as possible and eventually grow internationally.
