NAPW Inducts Rev. Dr. Marta Poling Schmitt, President of the Board of Directors of Nevadans for the Common Good, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle

She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. Rev. Dr. Schmitt is committed to making the world a better place. She accomplishes this through her tireless work with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations. She is President of the Board of Directors at Nevadans for the Common Good, an organization that is “dedicated to educating and training citizens to participate in public life.” A retired Lutheran Pastor, Rev. Dr. Schmitt is also President of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Social Services of Nevada.
Using her skills in management, fundraising and campaigning, and her understanding of the needs of nonprofits and faith-based organizations, Rev. Dr. Schmitt helps these groups achieve their goals of helping others.
“We won a victory in the 2015 Nevada Legislative Session for increased funding of public education K-12,” she said, speaking of the work Nevadans for the Common Good has done. “We are currently working to increase Nevada funding for Meals on Wheels and fighting the privatization of Medicaid for seniors, the blind and disabled communities.”
Currently, Rev. Dr. Schmitt is chairing the fundraising campaigns for two organizations, including Opening New Doors. She is considering running for political office in the near future.
