National Association of Professional Women Announces Carla A. Kelley, M.S.N., Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Shut Eye PC, a Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- NAPW honors Carla A. Kelley, M.S.N., CRNA, as a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Kelley is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in anesthesiology. As the largest networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
Carla Kelley has always wanted to be a nurse. After four years in intensive care and emergency room nursing, she was encouraged by an Anesthesiologist to apply to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA). In 1991, she earned an M.S.N. in Nurse Anesthesia from the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh and by January 1992, she was officially able to use the credential CRNA after her name.
As a CRNA at Shut Eye PC, Ms. Kelley has honed her skills in patient assessment, systems review, anesthetic planning, airway management and CV system stabilization. With her vast knowledge of pharmacology and pharmacodynamics and through extensive training, Ms. Kelley learned how to address the “whole” patient, taking into consideration the importance of psychosocial issues. She easily shifts the level of care for planned versus trauma surgeries where prioritizing is essential. “I love what I do, I love taking care of my patients and I put everything into their care and I think it shows,” says Ms. Kelley, whose work allows her the freedom to choose when and where she works. She works independently for surgeons, anesthesia groups, hospitals or facilities in need of additional help or vacation coverage.
Ms. Kelley plans to pursue her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.), which will allow her to teach the CRNA Program.
