National Association of Professional Women Inducts Denise Barbera, Chief of Nursing Operations, Into its VIP Professional Woman

She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare. Working as a Nurse for three decades, Denise Barbera has tirelessly dedicated herself to her patients, ensuring they receive care of the highest quality. As Chief of Nursing Operations at HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital, Ms. Barbera is responsible for the nursing services in the 126-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility. Located in Sunrise, FL, and serving patients in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County, the hospital “offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services designed to return patients to leading active and independent lives.”
In her role, Ms. Barbera uses her nursing expertise, including certification as a Brain Injury Specialist as well as the skills she has honed in leadership, management and patient care to oversee a staff of dedicated nurses. “We are certified by the joint commission on brain and spinal cord injury, and hip and stroke care,” she said. “Our nurses are certified to provide professional care for these very special patients.”
Prior to joining HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital, Ms. Barbera was Chief of Nursing Operations at Bayfront Health. During her tenure there, she established a women’s advisory council for the two-hospital system and served as leader of nursing services for the 124-bed acute care facility.
In addition to her nursing degrees and certifications, Ms. Barbera obtained a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She is an active member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses.
