The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Sharon A. Wilkerson as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

For three decades, Sharon Wilkerson, Ph.D., has been a leader in nursing education. As Founding Dean of the Texas A&M College of Nursing, she helped to build the college from the ground up, and under her leadership, the college has seen tremendous growth. From an inaugural class of 44 baccalaureate nursing students in 2008, on one campus, the college has grown to include 437 BSN students at four locations. Recently, the college was named a Center of Excellence by the National League of Nursing.

Before joining Texas A&M, Wilkerson held administrative and teaching roles in nursing at several institutions, including Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Purdue University, Indiana University, Indianapolis, Wayne State University, Detroit and the University of Pennsylvania.
