National Association of Professional Women Announces Melanie K. Davis, Ophthalmology Practice Administrator, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 12, 2014 -- NAPW honors Melanie K. Davis as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Davis is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in ophthalmology administration. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“My skills and areas of expertise include management and administration,“ says Ms. Davis. “With our doctor being in Saudi Arabia working through John Hopkins University on an assignment, I am now in charge of fully running our office.”
For more than 15 years, Ms. Davis has been responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the ophthalmology practice of William May, M.D. From managing staff to handling financial transactions to overseeing the other physicians affiliated with the practice, Ms. Davis is an integral part of the successful office.
Now, during the doctor’s absence, Ms. Davis is vigilant in keeping the office operating smoothly and seeing that the needs of every patient is met. “The goals I have outlined for myself are to continue running a proficient office while ensuring the highest standard of quality care for our patients,” she says. Ms. Davis knows the importance of staying relevant when it comes to the latest industry laws and regulations that are constantly evolving. She remains up-to-date through her involvement with the American Society of Opthalmic Administrators and by obtaining professional certifications. Ms. Davis is also the Secretary of the May Vision Foundation, a nonprofit that researches new surgical techniques for improving cataract surgery and provides free screenings for children for early signs of amblyopia, which can lead to early blindness.
