National Association of Professional Women Inducts Tamara Newton, Director of Sales & Marketing at The Source Furnishings, Into VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) April 04, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Tamara Newton as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Tamara into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Growing up in the family business of selling outdoor furniture, Tamara Newton joined the business her father established when she was just out of high school and continued working there while attending a local college in St. Petersburg, FL, for two years. “At this point, my tasks included being part time in the office doing all of the menial tasks no one else wanted to do, including filing and cleaning the of offices and bathrooms,” she recalled.
While completing her education at the University of Central Florida, Ms. Newton continued to hold down a job in sales at the company. Upon graduation, she accepted a full-time position. “At this time, my family had been designing, developing and importing their own proprietary products from multiple countries for over a decade,” said Ms. Newton. She and her father went on to successfully create a wholesale division, which grew into “a multi-million-dollar division with countless relationships built by providing a quality product, great value and unbeatable customer service.” Ms. Newton was also involved in nearly every other aspect of the company.
After almost 24 years, however, she made the bold decision to leave the family business to start her own company. In 2015, using the knowledge and skills she had honed, Ms. Newton founded The Source Furnishings. “The knowledge and experience gained in regards to the inner working of a business/corporation and what can make it thrive were vital elements that have allowed me to jump into my own company with both feet!” she said. From marketing and sales to nance and customer service, Ms. Newton is working hard and meeting challenges head on but she is also relishing managing her own business on her own terms. “The most rewarding thing about having my own company is knowing that my success and failure are completely up to me,” she said. “Another huge reward is that my husband and son and I have much more quality time.”
