National Association of Professional Women Announces Laura Brinkley, Manager, Gibson Orthopedics Pain Treatment & Cardiology Clinic, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

Ms. Brinkley is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare administration. Laura Brinkley holds memberships in ISPAN, the National Association of Orthopedic Nursing (NAON), the National Association of Clinical Providers and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her career in healthcare began at the Jarmen Hospital in Tuscola, Illinois. Two years later she took on the role of Manager of the gym unit of McKinely Health Center at the University of Illinois where she worked for ten years. Before taking on her new title as Nurse Practitioner for Matric Medican doing home exams for Medicare Advantage patients, she also worked as an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner at the Carle Clinic Association in Champaign.
Presently, Ms. Brinkley is Nurse Practitioner and Manager at Gibson Orthopedics Pain Treatment and Cardiology Clinic. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations, program management and in-patient management of the clinic and also mentors student nurses and advance practice nurses. “My mission has always been to provide the best patient care possible,” says Ms. Brinkley, who was also responsible for assisting with the development of the Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination. She holds an Adult Nurse Practitioner certification and an Orthopedic Nurse certification. She has a Bachelor degree in Nursing, a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration and is also an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN).
