The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Melanie Richards as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

Dr. Melanie Richards graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry while pursuing a pre-dental curriculum. Dr. Richards graduated from MUSC’s College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, where she obtained her license as a South Carolina dentist, and completed specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland at Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1994, when she began working in private practice. Powdersville Pediatric Dentistry is located in Easley, SC.
After successful completion of a voluntary rigorous examination and critique of her clinical and diagnostic abilities, Dr. Richards was designated a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed an International Association for Orthodontics tier advancement program titled Straightwire Orthodontics, and became a member of the International Association of Orthodontics.
Dr. Richards is involved in many community service activities and also contributes to the Wounded Warrior Project. She is actively involved in local school and community initiatives. Dr. Richards holds memberships in the following professional organizations: American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, South Carolina Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Sports Dentistry, and International Association of Orthodontics.
