NAPW Inducts Jennifer Wescoe, Executive Director of the Wescoe Foundation for Pulmonary Fibrosis, into its 2015-2016 VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) May 12, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Jennifer H. Wescoe as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“It gives me great pleasure to recognize Jennifer for the important work she is doing for those suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis,” said Star Jones. “She has created a valuable foundation for her community.”
“I started the foundation in 2005,” says Ms. Wescoe, Executive Director of the Wescoe Foundation for Pulmonary Fibrosis. “Throughout the process, our main focus has been to raise awareness about idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).”
Originally known as the Wescoe Community Fund, Ms. Wescoe established the 501(c)3 nonprofit in memory of her late father who died in 2004 of IPF. Since then, Ms. Wescoe has worked tirelessly to raise funds to fight the disease and provide resources and information for those battling IPF, and their families. “My motivation is to remember my dad and to be there for families who are dealing with the devastating effects of the illness. There were no resources when we were going through it,” says Ms. Wescoe.
The organization’s annual walk in the fall is now in its 11th year. “It’s so inspirational. Throughout the route, there is information about IPF and other resources,” says Ms. Wescoe. “We walk to raise awareness; it’s very moving.” Other events are planned throughout the year, including the Coopersburg 5K Run, Kids’ Fun Run and Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday, May 23rd, and another fall fundraiser. “We really started growing a year and a half ago and now, we’re going full speed ahead," says Ms. Wescoe. “The more you do, the better!”
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, unique tools and progressive benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
