National Association of Professional Women Announces Blythe Wells, Owner / Chief Executive of Defender Training and Consulting, LLC, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 10, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Blythe Wells as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. Mrs. Wells is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in education and training. With more than 775,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.
“It gives me great pleasure to present Blythe with this important honor for the important work she is doing,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Together with her husband, she has created a valuable business enterprise for her community.”
Dedicated to making her community and schools safer, Blythe Wells is the owner of Defender Training and Consulting, LLC. Along with her husband, a former Federal Law Enforcement Officer, she trains the community to identify threat-related and concerning behaviors and proactively addresses them.
After the tragic events of Sandy Hook Elementary, Mrs. Wells knew she had to act. As a parent, she believes the reactive practices of the day are not enough to reduce or prevent school violence. With her experience as a management consultant in the intelligence community and her husband’s experience in law enforcement, the Wells’ developed a specialized training program for behavioral observations and assessments. While her husband handles the majority of operational experiences, Mrs. Wells is responsible for sharing their vision with clients, stakeholders and the public.
“Understanding people, developing a rapport to ensure they trust the information we give them, respecting their values and our shared commitment to our children and communities are important parts of our methodology,” she said. “Our training program is interactive and as communities, we can learn from each other’s experiences.”
Together, the Wells’ goal is to train every teacher and administrator in school districts across the US with their methodology of positive, proactive behavioral intervention. They are determined to change the country’s approach to dealing with threat-related behavior in children and to save lives. “There should be no higher priority than our children’s safety.”
