NAPW honors Reverend Karen R. Gay as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in theology and ministry. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
Rev. Karen Gay is Rector/Priest for the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, specializing in Christian worship, pastoral care, faith, prayer, missions, community outreach and Christian/faith-based spiritual services and events in the community.
Before embarking on a spiritual career, Rev. Gay’s secular career included positions in retail sales, fashion design, marketing research, teaching, political/educational editing, writing and research. Even before entering the religious life, Rev. Gay was always involved in charitable activities. Her eventual ordination as a deacon commenced January of 2004 and in August of the same year she was ordained as a priest. “Throughout my career I have learned that women can make a difference,” says Rev. Gay, who believes women have a huge impact on their own families and communities through their vocation and volunteer work, as well as their political and community activism.
Rev. Gay joined the National Association of Professional Women to network with other business owners and professional women who seek benefit from the incorporation of faith and ministry in their vocation and says, “More specifically, I hope to take advantage of the many opportunities NAPW offers for continuing education targeted toward the needs of professional women.”
