NAPW Announces Maryellen Douglass Van Royen, Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- NAPW honors Maryellen Douglass Van Royen as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in the hospitality/marketing industry. As the largest networking organization of professional women in the US, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“I have evolved my strategic, resourceful and interpersonal skill set throughout the years,” says Ms. Van Royen, a Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME). “I review processes and make them more efficient and create areas of business development opportunities to increase revenues to the 'four walls of the building.’”
Ms. Van Royen has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality / marketing industry. During her highly successful career, she has been responsible for the re-branding of two hotels, the re-launching of several hotel and restaurant websites and helped to raise awareness of Little Smiles, a local children’s charity.
In her current role as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing, Ms. Van Royen expertly manages teams of sales and catering professionals. Using the leadership skills she has honed, as well as her vast industry knowledge and insight, Ms. Van Royen effectively guides her staff as they achieve – and surpass – revenue goals. “I am responsible for and oversee sales and catering teams, e-commerce / website strategies, advertising and social media, and community relations,” says Ms. Van Royen, who constantly stays up-to-date with the latest social media platforms.
Secure in her abilities, Ms. Van Royen’s goal is to eventually become a Hotel General Manager or Executive Director of a nonprofit organization. Always appreciative of the mentoring she received early on in her career, Ms. Van Royen hopes to soon secure a position as an Adjunct Professor at a local university so she may continue to share her knowledge and experiences with the next generation.
An Elder at Presbytery of USA and HSMAI-CHME, Ms. Van Royen is the proud mother of Aidan and a proud sponsor of Jeny in the Philippines through ChildFund International.
