National Association of Professional Women Announces Tina Louise Barker, Owner of Carbon Copy Enterprises, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- NAPW honors Tina Louise Barker as a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Barker is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
“I come from a family of truck drivers,” says Ms. Barker, Owner of Carbon Copy Enterprises, a transportation and logistics company. As sole proprietor of her own business, Ms. Barker handles every aspect, including sales, marketing and customer service. She is also the company’s only driver, so that means most of her time is spent steering her 18-wheeler truck carefully along the highways and back roads of the 48 states of this country.
“It will take me two to four days delivering from Texas to California and then another few days taking a load back to North Carolina,” says Ms. Barker. She estimates she is often on the road for 28 days out of a month, transporting goods from state to state. As a female truck driver, Ms. Barker is part of a small, growing sector in the industry. “It used to be unusual to see a woman truck driver, probably only 10 to 15% of drivers were women in the 1980s, but it is definitely increasing now,” she says. “Women are finally getting their feet in the door!”
With the growing success of Carbon Copy Enterprises, Ms. Barker is in the process of expanding her business and plans to soon purchase another truck. She is also pursuing her Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
