NAPW Inducts Lynn Anderson, LCSW, Supervisory Social Worker Polytrauma Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 05, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Lynn Anderson as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare. A United States Air Force Veteran, Lynn Anderson served her country for ten years. She then pursued a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. A Licensed Social Worker, Ms. Anderson now works with other veterans at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center where she is Supervisory Social Worker for the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center. “We provide services for our most seriously injured combat soldiers who have sustained multiple injuries and traumatic brain injuries during combat as well as active duty service members and veterans who have polytrauma and traumatic brain injuries,” she said.
In addition to managing the polytrauma unit, Ms. Anderson holds a number of other key positions at the
VA Center, including Director of Social Work Education and the Social Work Stipend Intern Program and Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence Program. She also sits on a number of national committees and is a member of the Chaplains Committee for Education. Ms. Anderson has received numerous certifications, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming; Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist; Certified Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing for adults and children; Clinically Certified Domestic Violence Counselor with specialties in Crisis and Trauma Counseling; Military Service Members, Veterans, and Their Families–Clinical Social Worker; Veterans Health Administration–Certified Mentor; Healing Touch and Reiki Teaching Master.
In addition to working towards obtaining certification in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Certification for Therapists, Ms. Anderson is involved with her alma mater, developing course work for students who want to work with the military and veterans. She also looks forward to helping local law enforcement work with victims.
