National Association of Professional Women Inducts Ilene Birkwood, Author / Vice President, Ascendant Publishing, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle

Ms. Birkwood’s professional title is Author and Director of Ascendant Publishing, a privately held company. After a successful career in Silicon Valley, she moved to New Zealand and began to write. There, in a beautiful beachside property in the sub-tropical north, she wrote mystery novels set in New Zealand. Her latest mystery What To Do About Emma was released last year and another one is on the way.
Aside from a career as an Author, Ms. Birkwood was one of Hewlett Packard’s first women managers and ultimately was Director of Software Engineering in HP Laboratories. Later she became a Vice President of Tandem Computers.
Ms. Birkwood enjoys writing, reading, music, theater, hiking and taking annual trips back to her native England. Having returned to the Pacific Northwest to be close to her family, she loves the lakes and mountains and the vibrant literary scene.
