NAPW Clarksville, TN Chapter Holds Second Meeting in August with Newly Installed Chapter President Erica Johnson Lockett
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- Members and guests of the NAPW Clarksville, TN Local Chapter gathered on August 29th for a professional networking meeting.
With newly installed Chapter President Erica Johnson Lockett at the helm, the group of professional women made plans for the Chapter’s upcoming official launch event and made exciting plans for future Chapter meetings.
Attendees were welcomed to the Clarksville Local Chapter’s networking meeting, which was held at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library by Chapter President Erica Johnson Lockett, who distributed meeting agendas to members and guests.
She spoke to the group of professional women about searching for a more permanent location for the Chapter’s monthly meetings and asked for the women’s input as far as dates and times that would work best for everyone.
“We talked about ways to continue to grow the Chapter. We have a wonderful core group of members who want to encourage other professional women in the Clarksville area to join us!” said President Lockett.
The Chapter is exploring how it could get more involved with local charities and nonprofit organizations. The President noted that she has reached out to the United Way of Clarksville who said they are very interested in partnering with the group. Ms. Lockett also mentioned the Cover Our Children Campaign.
“This would be an excellent way for members and guests to assist with providing gloves, hats and coats to less fortunate children in the Clarksville community and we are looking forward to doing whatever we can to help,” said President Lockett.
The Chapter President also announced that she would be reaching out to other groups in order to gather information regarding their planned activities and events. She would then put feelers out and notify members to see if there is an interest. Erica stated that as a group they needed to be about NAPW Clarksville.
“Let’s do our best to get the Clarksville Chapter up and running and out into the community!” she said.
A number of suggestions were made for expanding the Chapter and increasing its membership.
The group discussed alternate ways of communicating, such as group texts and emails to home/work email addresses, to keep all members informed of Chapter meetings, events, etc.
Attendees were asked to contact the Chapter President with their dates of availability for the September, October, November, December and January events and meetings.
The President stated that in October she wanted to host an event at Swirlz Art Studio in Clarksville. Elaine Murray stated that the women could have dinner at The Looking Glass next door prior to the session.
Members discussed celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday in November with a Potluck and the same in December. Erica stated that those meetings would be held earlier for both of those months.
Before the meeting ended, a group photo was taken. President Lockett closed the meeting by encouraging members to keep an ear out for upcoming events that the NAPW Clarksville Chapter could actively participate in or be of assistance within the community.
Attendees at the August networking meeting included Elaine Murray, Kizzy Jones, Denita Redmond and Erica Johnson Lockett.
