National Association of Professional Women Announces Elizabeth Nelson, Office Manager at TRIO Upward Bound, as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- Elizabeth Nelson is office manager at TRIO Upward Bound, which specializes in college preparatory educational programs for high school students. Ms. Nelson has attained the highest level of membership to the National Association of Professional Women as a VIP Woman of the Year and has been recognized for outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.
Ms. Nelson has a bachelor’s in Chicano Studies from the University of Minnesota. As office manager at TRIO Upward Bound, Ms. Nelson is responsible for all the activities pursuant to the educational department including archives, human resources and the reporting and tracking of TRIO students. She also provides exceptional management for other matters pertaining to her department including organization, preparation, guidance, support and advocacy to low-income, first-generation, disabled students and veterans in their quest for a post-secondary education. Ms. Nelson helped to launch TRIO’s Upward Bound’s “Dream Scholarship” and will be completing her master's in human resources development in May 2014.
Throughout her tenure as office manager, Ms. Nelson has been committed to increasing the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education. Additionally, Ms. Nelson has been an initiatives presenter at various TRIO regional organizations, and has succeeded in building a network of well- equipped professional adults, teens and children.
Ms. Nelson leads by example. She is an inspiration to all who are touched by her devotion to expanding the realm of helping others in their professional and/personal development in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language.
