NAPW El Paso, TX Local Chapter Learned Secrets to Making a Good Employee Great at August Networking Event
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- Members and guests of the NAPW El Paso, TX Local Chapter gathered on August 27th for a professional networking meeting.
The group of professional women learned how to make a good employee even better with expert tips from guest speaker Linda B. Thomas.
After welcoming members and guests to the networking meeting, Chapter President Guadalupe Villarreal invited each attendee to introduce herself to the group.
She then took a few moments to recognize the outgoing Chapter Vice President Brandy Wodley for her tireless efforts in championing the El Paso Chapter for the past year.
“Tonight, we bid farewell to Brandy Woodley. She has been with us since the very first meeting back in September 2012 and she has made a big difference in this Chapter by creating a professional development program for women,” said President Villarreal as she presented Ms. Woodley with a personalized NAPW coffee mug.
Guest speaker Linda B. Thomas began her presentation by thanking the El Paso Local Chapter for inviting her. She talked about what makes a good employee great. Ms. Thomas defined a great employee as someone who is educated and knowledgeable, one who has high energy and high impact.
“The speaker told us that a great employee is one who gets along with team members, is fully focused on making sure that the core business is her core business,” said President Villarreal.
“Ms. Linda stated that education is more than a degree and does not stop the day of graduation.”
Following the speaker, April Rhodes spoke about Wounded Warriors. She proposed the El Paso Chapter get involved in a new project with the charitable organization in Fort Bliss, TX. She asked the Chapter for help with raising funds.
The project consists of the restoration of a 1968 Mercury Cougar to be sold at the Barrett Jackson Auction; proceeds will be given to the Wounded Warrior Battalion. The funds will be used to purchase auto parts and supplies needed for the restoration. The goal is to raise $15,000 and the GoFundMe website will be used to collect the donations.
Before closing the meeting, the President reminded everyone about the El Paso Chapter’s Father Daughter Dance event to be held on September 7th, which is open to the community.
President Villarreal spoke about the upcoming Chapter meeting on September 14th that will include a self-defense workshop for victims of domestic violence. As she concluded the meeting, the Chapter President thanked all for attending and encouraged members and guests to linger a while and continue networking.
