National Association of Professional Women Announces Sarah L. Bannister, Senior Director of Administration for the Deparment of Homeless Service, as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- Sarah L. Bannister is the Senior Director of Administration for the Department of Homeless Services. Ms. Bannister has attained the highest level of membership to the National Association of Professional Women as a VIP Women of the Year and has been recognized for outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.
As Senior Director of Administration, Ms. Bannister helps to promulgate the agency's mission through whatever endeavor is merited, inclusive of initiatives spearheaded out of the Mayor’s office.
Ms. Bannister's career in the field of Human Services began at the Human Resources Administration (HRA), where she worked as a case manager assisting individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. She continued on in her quest to provide optimal services by working as a social work administrator, housing program analyst, director of contracts, and director of general services and presently has administrative oversight of all components of administrative support services.
On-call, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, Ms. Bannister's leadership as Senior Director includes everything from managing mail room services to emergency operations. In the absence of her immediate supervisor, she also functions in the capacity of the Assistant Commissioner. Ms. Bannister manages the day-to-day operations of her central office by providing administrative and technical support to DHS’ central office, directly operated and contracted shelter sites. She provides directorial oversight for Administrative Services, Administrative Contracts and Fleet Administration and is ultimately responsible for overseeing the provision of administrative support services agency wide, while monitoring and maintaining a departmental budget in excess of $75,000,000.
