Narconon Arrowhead Takes Part in Muskogee Christmas Parade
Muskogee, Oklahoma (PRWEB) December 23, 2014 -- The city of Muskogee is located about 46 miles distance from Arrowhead State Park, home to the Narconon Arrowhead drug rehabilitation and education center. It is one of the larger communities in southeastern Oklahoma, and is home to over 39,000 residents.
According to the 2000 census, Muskogee was ranked 11th in population statewide.
It is also home to Honor Heights Park, a notable World War I Memorial Park. In the winter, Honor Heights becomes a132-acre display of Christmas lights called the Garden of Lights. Visitors from across the nation come to experience its beauty.
Also a part of Muskogee’s traditional holiday observance is The Downtown Christmas Parade. This year, it was being held on Thursday night, the 11th of December, at six o’clock in the evening. A Country Western Christmas is the theme chosen for this year’s parade, and it promises to be a very special event.
Narconon Arrowhead participated in the The Downtown Christmas Parade in Muskogee this year, giving back to the community and sharing its drug prevention message, helping to raise awareness of the importance and value of living life drug-free.
The Narconon Arrowhead Parade Float
This year, Narconon Arrowhead has chosen the theme of Happy Sober Holidays in Oklahoma for its parade float. There was judging of all floats entered in The Downtown Christmas Parade, and which was based on adhering to the parade theme, craftsmanship and construction of the float, the creative use of float materials, originality of its design, and costuming of those appearing with the float, and its overall visual impact.
Narconon Arrowhead staff and students on the rehab program build and man the float, and strive to meet the entry challenges while delivering an effective message of help and hope to the community of Muskogee and all parade attendees.
The Downtown Christmas Parade also required that parade floats be safe for the public attending the parade, and must decorated in a manner appropriate to a family-friendly event. Narconon Arrowhead’s drug-free message and its celebration of saving lives in Oklahoma for twenty-five years is important for families, and for a drug-free future for Oklahoma children and youth.
Judges awarded a $500 dollar first-place prize to the float judged to be the best, and a $200 second-placed prize, as well. The challenge of creating the best float was happily taken-up by Narconon Arrowhead staff and students participating in the building of the parade float. And the opportunity to share a drug-free message to help the people who live in the local communities is really the prize that Narconon Arrowhead seeks to claim.
The executives and staff of Narconon Arrowhead know that the opportunity for students on the drug rehab program to participate in holiday activities throughout the holiday season are an important part of spreading the message of leading a drug-free life.
