National Flight Academy Announces Military Scholarship Sponsored by Delta Air Lines
PENSACOLA, Fla. (PRWEB) March 07, 2019 -- The National Flight Academy (NFA) in Pensacola, Fla. is proud to announce that Delta Air Lines is offering 80 tuition scholarships, totaling $100,000, to children of active duty or retired military service members to attend a six-day overnight Deployment program during Summer 2019.
Attendees, or “AMBITION Experimental Pilots” (AXPs), live aboard AMBITION, a state-of-the art program housed onboard a 102,000-square-foot virtual aircraft carrier. The aviation-based adventure weaves STEM learning objectives with important 21st century skills including critical thinking, problem solving, leadership development and effective communication.
AXPs plan missions with ultramodern and advanced technology as well as learn to fly in networked aircraft, eat on mess decks, sleep in staterooms and receive mission briefings in six fully-electronic ready rooms. Additionally, they experience different areas aboard the virtual carrier, including the Mess Deck, Join Intelligence Center, Joint Operations Center, Berthing Spaces and Hangar Bay.

Each interested and eligible student must participate in a video contest or submit a 500-word essay for a chance to win a scholarship seat. Applicants must be between 11 to 17 years old, entering 7th – 12th grade, and must be an active duty or retired military dependent.
The video or essay must answer one of the following prompts:
1. How would you use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to be a positive influence on the world? Please include why you would want to attend the National Flight Academy.
2. How do you think the aviation industry will use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts to make significant advances to aviation over the next 50 years? Please include why you would want to attend the National Flight Academy.
Tuition scholarships are valued at $1,250 each. Delta Air Lines does not cover travel to and from the National Flight Academy in Pensacola, FL. However, shuttle service is provided from Pensacola International Airport to the NFA for those students traveling by air.
The video and essay contest submission deadline is Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:59 pm CST. Any videos or essays submitted after this deadline will not be considered. Parents must submit their child’s video or essay through this portal https://tinyurl.com/ybrzhba3.
Selected students will be notified by the NFA no later than March 30, 2019 at 5:00 pm CST via the parent’s email address provided during the submission process.
