National Grid Supports Environmental Protection Agency’s Proposed Carbon Pollution Standard for New Power Plants
(PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- National Grid U.S. President Tom King today reiterated his support for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proceeding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
“National Grid has long supported federal legislation as a comprehensive means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, in the absence of federal legislation, we support EPA moving forward with greenhouse gas regulations under the Clean Air Act,” said King.
He added, “Today, EPA took an important initial step and proposed standards for new power plants. While National Grid is still reviewing the details of the proposal, this rule, in combination with the expected standards for existing plants, will help provide certainty about what EPA will require as investment decisions are made for power plants.”
National Grid remains committed to working constructively with EPA and other stakeholders as the Agency works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector and advance America’s efficient and clean energy future.
