Wycliffe House Tour Raises Funds for National Council of Jewish Women Kids Community Closet
Wellington, FL (PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- More than 75 Wycliffe Golf and Country Club residents enjoyed an afternoon tour of five homes followed by a Wine and Cheese reception sponsored by members of the Palm Beach Section of the National Council of Jewish Women. The house tour raised funds to help stock NCJW's Kids Community Closets with clothing, footwear, school supplies and personal care items for children at selected local public elementary schools.
Wycliffe homeowners graciously opened their homes to showcase their renovations, art, glass, and furniture collections. Highlights of the House Tour included a stunning renovated home, the hand crafted furniture made by one host - 20th century furniture made using 18th century techniques - an international glass collection, as well as outstanding pieces of art.
The funds raised will allow the Palm Beach Section of the National Council of Jewish Women to open a Kids Community Closet in a ninth public elementary school in which 90% or more of the children attending live at or below the federal poverty level. The Kids Community Closets are now in eight schools in the county with a total enrollment of over 5600 children: two schools Lake Worth; one in Lake Park; four in West Palm Beach; and one in Greenacres.
Wycliffe residents and House Tour Co-Chairs Judy Traub and Ruth Zalaznick organized the very successful afternoon. Ruth Zalaznick said, "this was a way to bring together our members, to reach out to women in our community who might not yet be members, and to support a very important community service that meets emergency needs of up to 5600 children in our local public schools."
Judy Traub said, "we appreciate the generosity of homeowners who opened their houses, the volunteers who served as hostesses in each home, and especially Bobbie Singer, who welcomed attendees to her home for a wine and cheese reception following the House Tour."
