After months of negotiations, New England Low Vision and Blindness and Freedom Scientific announce an official partnership that allows New England Low Vision and Blindness to exclusively offer visually impaired people in the six (6) New England states a wider selection of low vision and blindness products and services through Freedom Scientific.
New England Low Vision and Blindness (NELV&B) is a full-service technology and training company that provides low vision and blindness products and training services to people who are blind and visually impaired and to the professionals who serve them.
This partnership makes New England Low Vision and Blindness (NELV&B) the largest provider of electronic low vision and blindness aids and training services in New England, bringing their total number of suppliers up to 15, while adding more than 100 products and increasing their portfolio by 20%.
“We are excited to partner with Freedom Scientific,” says New England Low Vision and Blindness President Scott Krug. “We now offer every major product that someone with low vision or blindness could want or need.”
According to the Prevent Blindness America, there are more than 7.2 million people living with vision problems in New England. As the population ages, the number of people with vision impairment is also on the rise. As agencies look for solutions to reach this growing group, the NELV&B partnership with Freedom Scientific helps meet their needs by offering the widest variety of low vision and blindness products and training services under one roof.
“We are truly the one-stop shop for any low vision or blindness need in New England,” says Krug. “We cover every major category not just for aids but also for training. We now have even more of what our customers want. There is no other phone call you need to make.”
Freedom Scientific, who just announced Monday, November 16, 2015 a merger with Optelec, is the world’s largest assistive technology provider for the visually impaired. Freedom Scientific has a broad portfolio of well-known brands of video magnifiers, scanning and reading solutions, refreshable Braille displays, and the industry’s most recognized screen reading software, JAWS® for Windows.
“Partners like New England Low Vison & Blindness are a critical component to our customer’s experience,” says Richard Tapping Vice President, North American Sales at Freedom Scientific. “Scott [Krug] and his team clearly have both the expertise and the resources to ensure a best-in-class experience to our customers,” says Tapping. “Together we can look forward to serving and improving the quality of life for those living with visual impairments.”
