EMCO Improves Its Network Inventory Solution for Windows
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- EMCO Software, a leading provider of software and hardware audit solutions for Windows networks, announces the release of a new version of EMCO Network Inventory. The new version of the inventory application is adapted to and optimized for the latest versions of the Windows platform: Windows 8.1 and Windows 2012 R2. The new version is optimized to run on these platforms and to audit computers running these OS versions remotely.
EMCO Network Inventory is a Windows application designed to audit hardware and software used on PCs connected to a local network. Network administrators can install the application on a desktop or on a server and use it to collect inventory information from remote PCs. The application doesn’t require installation of any client modules on remote PCs, so network administrators don’t need to specially prepare the network PCs for auditing. The network administrator running the application should have an administrative access to the remote PCs – that being the only requirement for remote auditing. If the remote PCs have different administrative accounts, it’s possible to configure the credentials to be used to access such remote PCs and PC groups.
The application extracts hardware information from the remote PCs and stores the collected data in a centralized database. After a quick network scanning, the network administrators can see the CPU, memory, motherboard and other hardware information for every PC in the central database. The collected information for every hardware device includes the model name, the serial number and device-specific information, such as the memory capacity and the CPU frequency, for example.
In addition to collecting hardware data, EMCO Network Inventory can extract information about the installed OS and software from remote PCs. The extracted OS information includes the Windows version, edition and other specific parameters. For OS and Microsoft Office applications, EMCO Network Inventory can detect licensing data. In addition to OS information, EMCO Network Inventory extracts a list of installed applications from every PC, which includes the application name, version, vendor info, etc.
All collected inventory information is stored in a centralized database that can be used to generate inventory reports for specific PCs and the entire network. Using EMCO Network Inventory, network administrators can easily detect the PCs having the same hardware devices and installed software. This can help network administrators to plan necessary updates easily.
"The new version of the application has been updated to support the latest Windows versions and to optimize auditing operations on the new platforms. According to various tests, the audit performance on large networks has increased by 30%", Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.
