Joe Al Green, a US Navy veteran, retired semi-driver, and jack of all trades, has completed his new poetry collection “Words From the Heart”: an insightful glimpse at the inner workings of the thoughts, feelings, dreams, and regrets of an emerging poet.

“From a young age, I had problems with alcohol, drugs, and the law,” Joe Al Green confessed when describing his arrival at being a writer. “At sixteen, I dropped out of high school, got a GED, had my parents sign for me to go into the navy, did my tour, but my problems did not go away. I discovered truck driving, and it became my passion. But somewhere around the age of thirty, I awoke with a drug hangover, went to the mirror, and looked at myself. I knew I needed to make a change, so I did. From that day on, I left my problems behind and got my life on the right track. Things went well until my mom’s death.”

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Joe Al Green’s writing is as a direct result of the suffering that came from his mother’s passing—and of a personal health issue.

“After my mom’s passing, I wrote my first poem in a moment of grief,” Green said. “Then, after thirty-five years and five million miles over the road, I had a heart attack that forced me into retirement. It seemed like all my work was coming from the heart: thus, the title of my book.”

Readers who wish to experience this heartfelt collection of poetry can purchase “Words From the Heart” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
