"From a young age, I had problems with alcohol, drugs, and the law," Joe Al Green confessed when describing his arrival at being a writer. "At sixteen, I dropped out of high school, got a GED, had my parents sign for me to go into the navy, did my tour, but my problems did not go away. I discovered truck driving, and it became my passion. But somewhere around the age of thirty, I awoke with a drug hangover, went to the mirror, and looked at myself. I knew I needed to make a change, so I did. From that day on, I left my problems behind and got my life on the right track. Things went well until my mom's death."
