New Book Offers Succinct Look at the Seasons in a Christian Calendar Year
YORK, England (PRWEB) February 18, 2019 -- Intended as a means of building up confidence and knowledge in church members, Clive H Jackson, Reader’s new book, “The Gridiron: Thoughts About the Christian Year and Other Things” (published by AuthorHouse UK), gives concise information about the Christian faith and how it is commemorated throughout the year. The book is available for purchase at: https://www.amazon.com/Gridiron-Thoughts-About-Christian-Things-ebook/dp/B07J62HQML.
The author takes readers on a tour through the Christian year to deepen their practice of faith. Beginning with the season of Advent, the book encourages readers to ponder Jesus’ upcoming birth. Christmas follows, a time to remember the Savior’s birth to Mary. Up next is the Epiphany, and the Lord’s first appearance to the Gentiles. Then things move on quickly to the somber time of Lent and Holy Week leading to the crucifixion. The solemnity gives way to joy during Easter at Jesus’s resurrection. Following the Ascension, Christians remember Pentecost (or Whitsun), when the Holy Spirit, in the form of tongues of fire, descended onto the disciples to allow them to share the message through speaking other languages. Finally the year starts over.
Jackson hopes that his book gives readers “A greater knowledge of what the church is about and an introduction to why these commemorations take place.”
