New Book Shares Stories of Faith, Hope and Love Upon the Families Affected by 9/11 Terrorist Attacks
NAPLES, Fla. (PRWEB) June 25, 2019 -- According to history.com, almost 3,000 people were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, including 18 men and women from the town of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. In the aftermath of the horrific event, the small town came together to aid grieving families. Sixty-eight volunteers put their goodness into action through a bereavement support group coordinated by Pamela Koch to give an outpouring faith, hope and unconditional love upon the families so unforgettably touched that September day.
In an effort to keep the memory of the victims alive, Koch releases “For Goodness’ Sake: The Story Behind the Saint James 9/11 Bereavement Support Group” (published by Archway Publishing). The book offers a window into the workings and surroundings a 9/11 bereavement support group held in the Saint James Church, where 76 families and 104 children came together to face their grief and seek answers. Koch shares the stories of the families and the volunteers who rallied together in outreach, where she and her team used a holistic approach to grief to provide unimaginable, creative counseling sessions over a two-year period.
Through the book, Koch also aims to raise awareness on mental health, especially of children and teens experiencing loss. “In today’s world, this book shine through the darkness of despair, war, uncertainty and unrest,” says Koch. “The book gives a refreshing message of goodness to others with examples of acts of kindness and out-reach to those who are hurting.” Ultimately, Koch hopes to remind readers, “There is light in the darkness through the people around you.”
