New Book "Time Soldiers" by Author Max Recod is a Genre Blending Novel that Defies Space and Time
Recent release "Time Soldiers" from Page Publishing author Max Recod combines elements of military expeditions, speculative fiction, and riveting adventure into a story following American servicemen from the 1970s who find themselves back in time--in 1835 Texas, just months before the Battle of the Alamo.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Max Recod, a retired Special Forces, green beret, Vietnam War veteran, has completed his new book "Time Soldiers": the tale of a reconnaissance platoon of the 82nd Airborne Division under Sergeant Reno Bender's command, who are transported from a field training exercise, in the 1970s to the volatile moment in American history when Mexican forces under Colonel Rafael Mendoza Ortega are hell-bent on expelling, or killing, all Americans from the Texas territory.
"Sergeant Reno Bender must evade or fight Los Tigres, a regiment of mounted lancers, to save his and his men's lives—with he and only eleven inexperienced men and three ammunition laden, M151 gun jeeps against almost six hundred Tigres of the best-trained and fiercest lancers in the Western Hemisphere led by the narcissistic and very ambitious Colonel Ortega," Max Recod said in summary of his novel.
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Max Recod's highly charged debut work caught the attention of dystopian novelist and fellow military veteran R. C. Murray.
"Time Soldiers is a rare novel that combines each of [military service members'] favorite genres in one action-packed book," R. C. Murray said of Recod. "[Recod] is especially fit for telling this type of story. A man who served thirty years in the Airborne Infantry and Special Forces, he knows his subject matter. He's a warrior."
Recod's book begins in 1975, towards the end of the Viet Nam War, and almost finishes 140 years earlier. An airborne infantry recon team taking part in an Army training exercise is sent dangerously close to a nuclear test site.
"A perfect storm caused by nature and this apocalyptic bomb send the elite team of twentieth-century paratroopers back in time 140 years where they find themselves facing an elite Mexican lancer regiment that is preparing to link up with General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on a mission to kill or run all Americans out of Texas," Murray said of Recod's novel. "Instead of being in 1975, Sergeant First Class Reno Bender and his men try to avoid an all-out confrontation with Ortega's, larger but primitive force, as they also try to figure out how to get back to their own time. Through it all, Recod weaves military-style dark humor into nearly every situation."
To find out how Bender and his men fare in this pitting of modern technology and resources against an overwhelmingly disciplined and ruthless regiment, purchase "Time Soldiers" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
